Journalists, researchers, and analysts are welcome to use Residual Index figures with attribution.

Attribution

Cite as “Residual Index” with a link to the index page you used, for example:

methodology v1.1, accessed 2026-07-10.

Include the access date — series gain late-settling sales and revisions are disclosed, so the date pins the exact vintage you saw.

What you may do

Quote headline figures, reproduce charts with attribution, and use the published JSON for analysis and reporting. The JSON endpoint on each index page is stable and free for editorial and research use.

What requires a license

Redistribution of the data as a dataset, incorporation into a commercial product or model, and systematic historical retrieval (dated vintage snapshots exist for every published week) require a data license — write to info@residualauto.com.
